Learn How To Meditate

Posted on

Do you know how to meditate? When we escape from our thoughts and concerns, we’re allowing ourselves to bring stillness to our minds. This is known as meditation. Meditating can be very challenging to master. We’re all capable of accomplishing by practicing. Understand, meditation is a journey. The purpose is to calm the mind, achieve inter peace, and reach a higher spiritual dimension. You don’t necessary have to sit in a dark room for an hour to reap the benefits of relaxation. You can train your mind to focus solely on your breathing when you need to bring stillness to your thoughts. Start by inhaling deeply, follow by exhaling with the same flow. Bringing your attention solely on your breath, feel your chest raise and fall while your lungs expand and deflate. If your minds starts to wonder with distracting thoughts, channel them by chanting a mantra of choice. Silently repeat the mantra over and over to yourself as you meditate, allowing the word or phrase to whisper through your mind.

For those who are new to meditation, it’s especially important to avoid distractions while practicing. Turn off the TV, your phone, and remove yourself from loud noises. You can listen to calming music or the sound of a small water fountain running. Your meditation space does not need completely silent. All you need is the ability to concentrate on yourself for how ever long you choose to meditate. You should try and meditate at the same time every day. This way your meditation will quickly become a part of your everyday routine and you will feel its benefits much more profoundly.

Join me everyday this week tracking your experiences with meditation. Let us know what benefits you have seen.

Put Down The Phone And Get Your Boogie On

Posted on

Ever feel too tired to take part in work related social gatherings? Well that was me today. Invited to hang out with my co-workers after work for some fun and networking. Not just a drink at a local bar, but a line dancing country theme shindig. Thinking about those thousand other things I need to do when I get home. I tried to weasel my way out of going. My supervisor suggested we play rock, paper, scissor. If he wins I go and if I win I get to go home. I lost!

Having to overcome not being able to go home, I made the best out of my evening. We meet up at a really cool grilled cheese sandwich joint. Dope decor with portraits of celebrities mounted on the wall resembling them eating cheese. Some of my co-workers came ready for line dancing and dressed the part. While we munched on cheesy sandwiches we were able to catch up on each others day. I even learned a helpful tip from someone I’ve never talked to before because we’re in two different parts of the office.

Do you know how to line dance, because I don’t. Opting out of the lesson, because I was just trying to get one drink and go, I was able to see many people sitting and looking only at their cell phones. Not socializing with anyone, a straight face, and a drink in hand. I find it weird now that humans have such a hard time putting their cell phones away and enjoying what’s going on around them. As if its not attached to our hands what would we possibly do? Some of us wanted to watch and the others were super excited to get wasted and dance. The venue had a live band playing, inviting you to join in on the dance floor to get your boogie on. This is why I think instead of having a coat check, owners should have a no cell phone policy. Maybe this will force people to start having fun again and forget about what others are doing somewhere else. Before Facebook or Twitter, what were you doing when you went out?

Pour It Up, Pour It Up!

Happy Monday! Last week I cut out unnecessary foods. This week I want to focus on juicing every morning. Juicing can help you meet your daily requirements in one drink. It’s recommended to eat two whole fruits and three to four vegetables a day. Different colors have different vitamins and minerals. If you don’t have a juicer try using a blender. The juice may become too thick adding some water can help.

My favorite juice combination is Kale, Spinach, Green apples, Carrots, Lemon, Ginger, and Pears. Which combination do you prefer?

Keep It Classy Not Trashy

“All the single ladies, all the single ladies. Put your hands up!” Beyonce song “Single ladies” gave us girls a new perspective on dating. Telling us if we’re in a relationship and he likes us, it’s time to put a ring on our fingers. Even for the single ladies out there looking for a new relationships; with hopes of becoming someones future wife. Dating now is so difficult. Some of us are so tired of the lying, cheating man, we’d rather be alone. Some women have a hard time being alone and need to jump right back into a relationship faster than they closed the last one. The quality of dating is not how it was when my parents used to date each other. People had more respect for the other person. Now, all I’m hearing is “When can we have sex, or I’m not looking for a committed relationship.” How can we change this way of thinking when it comes to dating? I think it starts with us ladies, by showing men we’re marriage material and not just someone to do.

When we go out at night dressed to impress. We should not only show men we’re good-looking. We need to show them we have standards too. I see too many girls competing for attention from men giving off the wrong signals. Boyfriend hunting sometimes can come off as desperation. Which is a huge turn off for both species. No one likes a pushy person whom can’t handle separation. Accept the attention without trying so hard to hold on to it. Set the tone you deserve respect. Ladies, it’s time to take the reigns when it comes to dating. Let’s show these guys we’re ready for a committed relationship with a deserving gentlemen. Confidence is key for having a better social life and relationship.

For all the single ladies, tell us your experiences with dating. Do you agree with my opinions?

Social Mingle Challenge

Posted on Updated on

Who’s single and ready to mingle? Looking to switch up how you socialize? We have a mingle challenge that’s all about having fun and stepping outside your comfort area.

“You must be tired, because you have been running through my mind all day,” Is one of the worst pick up one liners ever! Who’s heard this line before? For some reason, guy’s think it’s clever to say cheesy lines to get a girls number. Woman love a man who can make her laugh, not laugh at them.bartender

When you get to your destination; get a good table or area in the venue where you can see people entering through the door. You’ll be able to see who you want to mingle with first. If you’re with your friends have someone be the decoy and head with you towards him. Let’s say he’s at the bar, approach the bar and lean in with your chest high and money/card in hand. Look his way but act like you’re just looking around him first, then say loud enough for him to hear; “What would you like to drink?” when you’re really asking your girlfriend. If he hears you he might think you’re talking to him. Politely smile and say sorry I was talking to her, if you’ll like a drink I can get you one. This ice breaker will definitely catch him off guard and might even get you the free drink. Either way you took the initiative, and went after what you wanted. Keep the conversation going by asking his name, seeing if he came alone, what brought him to this place, finding out where he’s from, and don’t forget to listen; It’s very important. You want to keep the conversation light and compliment him; then allow him to say thank you, before changing the topic. The biggest secret to being a good conversationalist is allowing other people to talk. You become boring when you can’t shut it. Did you know that we only comprehend and keep only one-fourth of what we hear? That means our mind tunes out to other ideas, and we tune out what someone is saying to us. Now get out there woman and challenge yourself! 373294_VLdQxXKU_c
