Ever hear the expression “Patience is a virtue”? This method can be challenging when you’re in a heated situation. The phrase tells us to gather our thoughts and pause before reacting. Frustration, desperation, evil thoughts, or dealing with an antagonizing individual requires deeper thoughts than the surface. During an agitated moment we overcome these obstacles by not letting the problem get the best of our character. People will push our buttons, scream in our face, belittle our intelligence with insults, or put their hands on us. If we engage in this behavior we’re allowing the situation to get the best of us. Ultimately it puts us in danger.
Once I started practicing Yoga I’ve learned how to focus on my breathing. Yoga taught me to breath deeply when my heart rate is racing uncontrollably. I over came my struggles with anxiety. Using this exercise brings stillness to my mind and calms a stressful situation for me. Focusing only on my breathing and not frustration really helps with walking away when I’m angry, listening to others without rebuttal, and taking control of the situation at hand. Yes, we all want to set people straight and give them a piece of our minds, but what does fighting accomplish?
Next time you’re dealing with negative gossip among co-workers, road rage, a disagreement with your life partner, or any difficult problem. Take a moment to breathe through it. Try counting to three when you inhale and exhale. Doing so will give you clarity and assist in making the right decision.

Happy Monday! Last week I cut out unnecessary foods. This week I want to focus on juicing every morning. Juicing can help you meet your daily requirements in one drink. It’s recommended to eat two whole fruits and three to four vegetables a day. Different colors have different vitamins and minerals. If you don’t have a juicer try using a blender. The juice may become too thick adding some water can help.
My favorite juice combination is Kale, Spinach, Green apples, Carrots, Lemon, Ginger, and Pears. Which combination do you prefer?
How many people are actively keeping up with their fitness regimen? So far, I haven’t even started this year. I’m ready today though! Started my Monday Me off right; with a protein shake and 40 minute workout. The protein shake had: beef protein powder, almond milk, banana, one tablespoon of peanut butter, dash of cinnamon, and vanilla extract. Ever get the feeling you’re lacking in energy and performance? Or your clothes are starting to fit differently than before? Yeah, that’s how I’m feeling now… And enough is enough! Just like I stated before “Time to get it right and tight“. The holiday’s are over and I have a 10 pound New Years Resolution to complete. I spoke with a personal trainer the other day, explaining how I wanted to go cold turkey, by starting a 5 day cleanse. He explained to me it might be very difficult to carry out and I should slowly curve my appetite. Taking his advice: I’m cutting out all deserts, no curbs, no red meats, only seafood, drinking more water, no liquor, and working out at 6am every morning this week.

Raise your hand if you over indulged on fatty foods this holiday season. I’m raising both my hands, because I went all the way in on fatty foods. Taking full advantage of saying “It’s the holidays, I’m allowed to eat this”. I ate, and ate, and ate everything in sight. Normally, I focus on portion control with desert and starches. Not this time; I had massive amounts of food on my plate. I’m no fitness guru. So of course I allow myself at least one day out of a week to reward myself with a treat. If you give me chocolate, we’re either best friends now or we go together! Now you know my weakness ;).
Being that, I’m fully aware of my desert addiction-I fight it with hard work and dedication. I work out often; and tell myself ” if you eat that bowl of ice cream, you’ll to have to do 30 more minutes of cardio”. I love cardio with limitations; I love to get it done and over with. So having to do extra cardio is not what I’ll sign myself up to do. Portion control is something I struggle with daily. If I like how it tastes on my palate, I’ll try to kill it! This is why I have to work out at least 5 days a week.
Now that I finished the year eating wrong, it’s time for me to get it right and tight. My New Years Resolution is to lose 10 pounds. I’m going to start this year with a 5 day cleanse. I go big! A new year is just around the corner and people start planning their New Year Resolutions. Most choose: losing weight, a career change, new hairstyle, quitting smoking, and finally taking a vacation. Unlike the common choices, how about some realistic changes that will help with progressing your strengths and working on your weaknesses. I like to write out a list of my Top 25 Do’s or Dont’s. Like 25 ways to get you that new job, steps you’re going to take to lose weight, what you did wrong or right in your current-past relationship. Anything that you feel will improve yourself in preparation for the new year.

- Use my reminders on my phone more
- Learn to take constructive criticism
- Cut back on eating deserts
- Get regular teeth cleanings
- Join a book club
- Stay consistent with my vitamins
- Save more money
- Stop procrastinating and just do it
- Play with make-up more (I hardly ever wear make-up)
- Use public transportation when available (Gas is so high ugh)
- Meditate for 10 minutes each day
- Actively get involved with more social media sites
- Get rid of clothes in my closet, that I know I am not ever going to wear
- Workout 5 days a week
- Learn Spanish
- Volunteer my time more to a charity
- Call my family more
- Write a to do list everyday
- Be an even better girlfriend
- Use my cooking books more
- Manage my time better
- Lose 10 pounds
- New stamp in my passport
- Get that tattoo I have always wanted.
As you see my list is pretty much all over the place but these are the things that I want to carry out in 2014. I suggest printing them out and posting them somewhere you can see daily. Once you complete some of your goals mark them off to show yourself how awesome you are for completing it. Doing these steps towards becoming the new-you will give you peace of mind, improve your health, gain more productivity, and help you reach your goals. Meditation is about consciousness. Giving yourself the feeling of inner peace. Meditating requires practice! Taking 10 minutes each day to meditate is highly recommended. Yes it is challenging to relax our thoughts-although you can concentrate on just focusing on not thinking about your current situation and only focusing on your breathing.

Started my week with an intense cardio workout in my living room. I wanted to stay in bed when my alarm clock went off this morning. Jumping straight out the bed-got dress to force myself to wake up. I was able to get 45 minutes done and over with for the day. We all have busy schedules-although getting a good workout to begin your day helps to release happy endorphins and natural energy.
After my work out I refueled my body with: scrambled eggs, spinach, onions, turkey sausages, and a potassium banana. Now I’m ready to take on what’s in store for me today!

Did you know that roughly 40 million U.S adults suffer from anxiety? Making it the most common mental illness in the country. I suffered with anxiety attacks last year: experiencing stress, tension, and panic attacks. Transitioning into a new situation in my past caused a lot of distrust, uneasiness, and fear that it wasn’t going to work out in my best interest. Once I realized I had a problem I expressed it to my friends. That’s when I was introduced to yoga.
Practicing yoga makes a huge difference in my life. It helps control my fast beating heart rate and breathing when I get nervous. I’m able to relax my mind and talk myself through the worry now. Bikram Yoga is my favorite practice. It includes all the components of fitness: muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility and weight loss.
